In 2018, nearly 10% of births registered in Spain were due to reproductive treatments.
The Sociedad Española de Fertilidad (SEF), junto al Ministerio de Sanidad, ha presentado los datos estadísticos correspondientes al año 2018 del Registro Nacional de Actividad. Proceden de más de 300 centros que realizan tratamientos de fertilidad en España, entre los que se encuentra iGin.

On the other hand, it should be noted that although overall births are decreasing in our country, the number of children born thanks to assisted reproduction treatment is increasing. Specifically, 37,094 babies were born thanks to treatments carried out during 2018, which places the rate of boys and girls born through assisted reproduction above 9% of the total number of births published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). This figure, which increases every year, demonstrates the impact that advances in reproductive medicine have on birth rates in Spain.
In addition, multiple pregnancies are decreasing thanks to awareness among the medical community and patients about the dangers of multiple pregnancies. In the report, multiple births are placed at 13% of the total, while in 2014 the rate was 21%.
Another interesting and growing figure is that of cryopreserved embryo transfers: they account for 26% of all transfers carried out in 2018.
